SALINE OF PEDRA DE LUME- SAL 06/12/2016

It is located in the village of Pedra de Lume, these salinas are what remains of an old exploration of mineral salt, which began with the discovery of this resource in 1833. It is still possible to find the Small houses of the workers, salt warehouses, and what remains of the wooden trestles that supported the cable car to transport the product to the ships. Thanks to the natural properties of water, 27 times saltier than sea water, bodies float to the surface, which gives a sense of tranquility, much appreciated by tourists.
High on National Cultural Heritage in March 2011, the Salinas de Pedra de Lume are one of the most visited tourist places on the island of Sal and in Cape Verde. In high season, they receive an average of 400 tourists per day.
